It might be coming from an unlikely source (MoviePass—the theater ticketing subscription system—has partnered with The Orchard for distribution), but American Animals is one of the best films of the year thus far. Despite a fair share of critics who disagree, I found its documentary/drama hybrid of an ostentatious true-life heist riveting from start to finish. Check it out for yourself at North Park Theatre and Dipson Theatres Eastern Hills.
And if you want a bit of nostalgia and genuine human compassion in today's climate of bile-fueled rhetoric, the Fred Rogers documentary Won't You Be My Neighbor? opens Dipson Amherst and Eastern Hills for a breath of much-needed joy.
